NewsGossipBull - Fears are being raised over the deaths of four porn stars in recent
weeks, at least two of whom are thought to have taken their own lives.
Shyla Stylez and August Ames
were both found dead within the last few weeks, and on December 15 it
was reported that adult entertainment star Yuri Luv's lifeless body was
discovered by her landlord at home.
On January 10 in 2018 , 20-year-old Olivia Nova was confirmed dead by her agent, who paid tribute to the "beautiful girl with a very sweet and gentle personality".
The tragic deaths of these women is being touted by some
fans as an indication that young performers are not being given the help
and support they need by the porn industry.
Canadian actress
Shyla Stylez - real name Amanda Friedland - was 35 when she was found
unresponsive at her mum's home in British Columbia on November 9.
She had reportedly died in her sleep, and as yet, no further details of her death have been released.
Her long-time publicist James Bartholet told Canadian
media: "We have so many great memories of working with her and hanging
out with her and we want to hold onto and remember the good times.
"We're
deeply saddened by the loss of Shyla and our condolences go out to her
family in this very sad time. She went quietly with no pain and we know
she's in a better place."
Less than a month later, August Ames
was found hanging in a public park, 20 minutes from the home she shared
with husband Kevin Moore in California.
The 23-year-old had been
openly discussing her depressive state and had been harshly trolled
hours before her death by Twitter followers furious for a decision she'd
made about a porn scene.
The star, whose real name was Mercedes Grabowski, had
turned down a sex scene with a 'crossover' actor - someone who has
unprotected sex with both men and women - but critics branded her
homophobic for her refusal.
She'd tried defending herself by saying she herself was bisexual, but that only sparked more bullying comments.
She
was found dead in the early hours of December 5. Toxicology tests are
still ongoing, but there was no sign of alcohol or drugs at the scene or
in her car, where she'd stashed a suicide note apologising to her
parents.
The two worrying deaths were followed by the tragic loss of Yuri Luv, also known as Yurizan Beltran, at the age of 31.
It was thought she'd committed suicide by overdosing on pills.
Her death was confirmed by Dan Hogue, director of business development for PornStar Platinum, according to IBT .
He
said: "It is with a heavy heart I write this. The entire PornStar
Platinum family is in mourning at the news of the loss of one of its
family members.
"Yuri was found today at the age of 31. She was always kind to me and we will miss her."
She was reportedly discovered by the owner of the house she rented in Bellflower, California.
Her colleague Nickey Milo said: "Beltran died of an apparent drug overdose... There were pills found near the bed."
A couple of weeks before her death, Yuri had spoken on Twitter about needing a hug.
The death of the three women has shocked and angered those
in the porn industry, with many performers stepping forward to name the
problem.
Shy Love - a friend of Yuri - said female porn stars are routinely disrespected because of their occupation.
"You
know what sucks the most. You just want to be sad and morn someone and
ur stuck still doing social media like life did not matter," she
tweeted.
"Being a pornstar is a harder job them most can imagine
and I wish that porn girls got way more respect for their jobs and hard
work."
Another adult entertainer, Summer Brielle, tweeted that porn stars need a good support network to stay strong.
"I'm
very very blessed to have him [my partner] and my family stand by me.
It's still hard. I can't imagine how hard it is if you don't have that
support. I'm just heartbroken for them," she wrote.
And porn actress Odette Delacroix told fans that August and Yuri's deaths won't be in vain.
"The passing of AugustAmesxxx and YuriLuv have
inspired me to open up more about my own fifteen year battle with
depression instead of exhausting myself further by hiding it," she
tweeted.
Now fans are demanding action be taken to prevent any more stars from committing suicide.
"So sad what's happening right now losing @YuriLuv @AugustAmesxxx @MsShylaStylez all great nice people just going through life," tweeted Rusty Shackleford.
"If
u need somebody to talk to call your friend even it's is just hello
check on them we all have problems addiction, depression or etc."
And
another fan said: "One can only hope that this isn't the beginning of a
trend. The industry has seen it before, but the hope was that better
support mechanisms were in place for anyone needing them."
